The Story of Pizzería La Mina | Tradition Since 1993 in Donostia
🍕 1993: The Dream of Iñigo Sarobe
In a small spot on Urbieta Kalea, a young Iñigo Sarobe —with experience in Italian kitchens and his family’s Basque grill— decided to risk it all. His vision:
"To create a place where artisanal pizza and Donostia’s heart could meet"
Using traditional methods (hand-kneaded dough, wood-fired oven) with Basque touches (like cod on pizza).
The result: The first pizzeria in the city center to blend Italian recipes with local ingredients.
⏳ 30 Years of Legacy
1993–2000:
Donostiarras embraced La Mina as “their place” for quick dinners and celebrations.
2010:
Second generation of “Miner@s”: a team trained by Iñigo, still working with us today.
We introduced online ordering (among the first in Donostia!).
2024:
Recognitions:
🏆 "Best Traditional Pizzeria"
★★★★☆ (4.5/5 on Tripadvisor for “Authenticity and service”)
★★★★☆ (4.2 on Google, with over 2,000 reviews)
👨🍳 Mina Philosophy: What Makes Us Unique
Dough with DNA: The same recipe from Iñigo (slow fermentation + organic flour).
Local selection: Cod from Getaria, peppers from Lodosa, premium meat, and proximity-based sourcing.
The Miner@ Touch: Every pizza has a “special touch.”
“When a customer returns after 20 years and says, ‘It tastes just like when I came as a kid,’ we know Iñigo did it right.”
